Former Watford winger Lee Cook scored twice for Queens Park Rangers Reserves as they beat a Hornets XI 4-2.

Watford named a side consisting of mainly professionals as Mark Yeates, Prince Buaben, Carl Dickinson all featured alongside the likes of Dale Bennett and Tom James.

Cook opened the scoring within two minutes at London Colney yesterday following good work by Federico Macheda and Angelo Balanta.

The highly-rated Balanta was at the heart of everything QPR did and it was his shot five minutes later which was parried into the path of Manchester United loanee Macheda, who made it 2-0 with a tap-in.

Watford were being kept at bay by a back four which included ex-Hornet Danny Shittu but Ross Jenkins’ neat finish pulled one back early into the second half.

The visitors responded immediately as Balanta set up Cook for his second to restore the two-goal advantage.

Watford youngster Piero Mingoia set up an interesting finish to the game but Balanta made it 4-2 with a stunning volley late on.
